k so I am looking into getting a surround sound system for my living room. I have heard that Bose speakers are the best (and I have heard them, they sound awesome) in terms of sound, but what about longevity?

1st off Bose are not the best far from it, Bose is nothing more than very small speaker with average to above average sound for a way above average price, they market well, and are good for what they are a tiny, easily hidden speaker that sounds good, not great, The bad ? well most bose products do not integrate well with non bose products, they like to use propriatary connectors that dont match with any gear other than bose, most of there systems have a setup where the speakers all run thru the subwoofer, this is not convienent or practical, and doesnt stand up to THX or other "Home Theater " standards for surround sound, such as Dolby Digital, or DTS, , as far as loud, maybe but not pure, very poor low range sound, too bright of mids, and a average high range, in most cases when you shop for bose they are in there own kioske type area of the store not near the other sound systems, this is so you cant compare bose the other brands head to head if you could you'd see that you can get a better, More true sound, for less money, as far as longevity, i havent seen too many bose products go bad ie blow, but anythings possible, if your looking for a high priced, tiny speaker with average sound than Bose is for you, if your into great sound for less money, shop around
